On the one hand it is the one day of the year when the boss is in his best mood, so the usual oppressive atmosphere relaxes quite a bit.
On the other hand, it is the only day of the year when the doors of the mansion open and permit the visit of the neighborhood children.
It happens that there's nothing that Black Hat enjoys more than to give them a good scare, he doesn't want to traumatize them or harm them for real, he genuinely enjoys to play pranks on them, also there´s always the one for whom the experience guides them to have an interest in the occult and to follow the path of villainy.
Black Hat and his doctor are a thing of legend in the neighborhood, many generations of kids have come and gone, telling stories about the best haunted mansion in town.
Of course Black Hat takes it seriously, the preparations take at least two weeks.
It is also, and only Flug knows this, that ancient creature's birthday. Black Hat has no interest in celebrating his birthday, but he lets Flug make him a cake and give him gifts simply because it makes him happy to do so, his doctor has always been like that, devoted and attentive.
The kids come, scream with fear until they lose their voices, then go away with their bags and plastic pumpkins full of candy and can't sleep for days with the combination of adrenaline, fear and sugar.
Black Hat laughs to himself for days and Flug looks at him with love, he likes that childish and mischievous side of his boss.
There are still several days until Halloween, busy days in which they prepare all kinds of scares and decorate the already dark mansion which, ironically, becomes more cheerful.
“What we are going to wear this year” asks to his boss while hanging bats to the ceiling, they look reald and, maybe, they are.
“Mad Hatter” points to himself “March Hare '' points to Flug and smiles, not with malice but with childish mischief.
Flug smiles back, loves to see him so happy and enthusiastic.
